MoS for External Affairs inaugurates 7th IBSA Academic Forum

Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh inaugurated the two day long 7th IBSA Academic Forum. The event is being hosted by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries, RIS, an autonomous think-tank of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. India is the incumbent Chair of IBSA.

KVIC Gets Patent For its Innovative Plastic-Mixed Handmade Paper

The innovative plastic-mixed handmade paper developed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to curb plastic pollution is now a patented invention.

The handmade paper was developed under Project REPLAN(Reducing Plastic from Nature),launched in 2018 as KVIC’s commitment towards Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.

The patent is issued for 20 years under the Patents Act,1970

Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Rameswar Teli launched 3rd ONGC handicraft project 'Ujjwal Abahan'. The ONGC supported Assam Handloom project will support and train over a hundred artisans of Bhatiapar of Sivasagar, Assam in Hathkargha handicraft. Number of billionaires in India dropped from 141 in FY20 to 136 in FY21

The number of billionaires in India dropped to 136, as per a statement issued by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The number of billionaires was 141 in the previous fiscal - FY2019-20. The count is based on the gross total income declared in the income tax returns. In FY 2018-19, the number of individuals with a gross total annual income of more than Rs 100 cr is 77.

Kamlesh Kumar Pant appointed new NPPA chairman

IAS Kamlesh Kumar Pant, has been appointed as the new chairman of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet.

Ayurveda proponent Balaji Tambe passes away in Pune

Dr Balaji Tambe, an Ayurveda practitioner and proponent of Yoga, passed away in Pune following a brief illness. He was 81. The founder of “Atmasantulana Village '', a holistic healing centre near Lonavala, Tambe had written various books on spirituality, Yoga and Ayurveda. One of his books is ‘Secret of Ayurveda’.

World Elephant Day | Aug 12

World Elephant Day is celebrated every year on August 12. Initiated by the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation and filmmakers Patricia Sims and Michael Clark in 2011, the first international Elephant Day was celebrated on August 12, 2012.
