Divya Deshmukh wins second consecutive National Chess Championship, youngest to defend crown

Divya Deshmukh defeated IM Bhakti Kulkarni in the final round to become a clear champion at MPL 48th National Women Chess Championship 2022. This is her second consecutive National Women title where she remained undefeated.

Since 2011, every single National Women's champion won the event at least twice in-a-row and Divya maintained that record.

Chess: 16-year-old M Pranesh becomes India's 79th Grandmaster

16-year-old Tamil Nadu chess player M Pranesh crossed the 2500-rating threshold and became a GM, having completed his three norms before he clinched the title in the Rilton Cup, the first tournament on the FIDE 2023 calendar, in Stockholm.

Koustav Chatterjee recently become the country's 78th Grandmaster during the National Senior Chess Championship.

RBI to issue green bonds in two tranches of ₹8,000 cr. each

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will auction ₹16,000 crore of sovereign green bonds (SGrBs) in two tranches, the central bank announced.

The RBI will auction 5-year and 10-year green bonds worth ₹4,000 crore each on 25 January and on 9 February, and this would be a uniform price auction.

SEBI allows govt. stake in IDBI Bank to be reclassified as public post sale

Capital markets regulator SEBI has allowed the Central Government to classify its stake in IDBI Bank as "public" after its stake sale on condition that its voting rights do not exceed 15%, of the total voting rights of the bank. The government and state-run Life Insurance Corp (LIC) together hold about 95% in IDBI Bank.

RBI releases Annual Report of Ombudsman Schemes, 2021-22

The Reserve Bank – Integrated Ombudsman Scheme (RB-IOS), was launched on November 12, 2021, by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The ambit of RB-IOS, 2021 was extended to include non-scheduled Urban Cooperative Banks with deposits of ₹50 Crore & above.

The rate of disposal of complaints by RBIOs improved to 97.97 per cent in 2021-22 from 96.59 per cent in 2020-21.

50 Electric Buses launched in Delhi with support under FAME India Phase II scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries

As many as 50 electric buses were launched in Delhi with support under the FAME India Phase II scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, informed the government. In 2019, government approved ₹10,000 crore for a period of three years. Out of total budgetary support, about 86 percent of the fund has been allocated for incentives so as to create demand for electric vehicles.
