Using 'Cryo-EM', a powerful microscopy technique, researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and collaborators have decoded the molecular architecture of a transporter protein controlling the movement of a key neurotransmitter.

Neurons or nerve cells communicate by releasing chemical signals called neurotransmitters.

India has doubled its share of global commercial services exports to 4.4% in 2022 from 2% in 2005, according to a World Bank and World Trade Organization report.

India Permits Potato Imports From Bhutan Without License Till June 2024

India on Monday permitted imports of potatoes from Bhutan without any license for one more year till June 2024. Earlier, it was allowed till June 30 this year.

The DGFT said that the import of 17,000 metric tonnes of fresh (green) areca nut without a minimum import price condition from Bhutan will also also be allowed through land customs station Chamurchi.

India's First Domestically Built 700 MW Nuclear Reactor Starts Operations In Gujarat

India's first indigenously developed 700 MW nuclear power reactor at the Kakrapar Atomic Power Project in Gujarat started commercial operations.

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. is building two 700 MW pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) at Kakrapar, which is also home to two 220 MW power plants.

SJVN CMD Assumes Additional Charge Of BBMB Chairman

Chairman and Managing Director of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd., Nand Lal Sharma has assumed the additional charge of chairman of Bhakra Beas Management Board.

He has been heading SJVN as Chairman and Managing Director since December 2017.

Sharma has played a key role in expanding the project portfolio of SJVN from around 5,200 MW in 2017 to 54,327 MW at present.

Centre's Fiscal Deficit At 11.8% Of Full Year Target: CGA Data

The central government's fiscal deficit at the end of May stood at 11.8% of the full-year budget estimates for 2023-24.

The fiscal deficit was 12.3% of the 2022-23 budget estimates in the same period of the last year.

RBI rejects 3 applications for setting up small finance banks (SFBs)

Based on the assessment of the applications, the applicants "not found suitable" for granting of in-principle approval to set up a small finance bank are Akhil Kumar Gupta, Cosmea Financial Holdings Pvt Ltd and West End Housing Finance Ltd.

RBI had received about a dozen applications to set up banks under the guidelines for 'on tap' Licensing of Universal Banks and SFBs.
