Agri Ministry asks banks to promote Rs 1 lakh crore Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

The Agriculture Ministry asked banks to promote Rs 1 lakh crore Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) for creation of necessary infrastructure in the farm sector.

The AIF is a financing facility launched on July 8, 2020 for creation of post-harvest management infrastructure and community farm assets.

Bank of India opens GIFT City branch; aims $1 billion business by March 2024

State-owned Bank of India opened its branch in the GIFT City Special Economic Zone in Gandhinagar and expects to achieve a $1-billion business through it by March 2024.

Bank of India also aims to touch a business of $4 billion with equal distributions of advances and deposits in the subsequent three years by March 2027 through its IFSC banking unit at GIFT City.

Praveen Kumar wins bronze in Para Athletics Worlds, books 2024 Paris Paralympics berth

India's Praveen Kumar won a bronze in the men's high jump T64 event in the World Para Athletics Championships here to book a 2024 Paris Paralympics quota.

The 20-year-old Kumar produced a season's best effort of 2.01m to finish third behind Lepiato Maciej (2.05m) of Poland and Broom-Edwards Jonathan (2.05m) of Great Britain.

A delegation from the UAE is participating with observer status in the plenary of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), a Financial Action Task Force-Style regional body (FSRB), taking place this week in Vancouver, Canada.

The UAE is the first Arab country to be granted observer status at the APG.

Centre releases Rs 7,532 crore to states under SDRF

HDFC Bank enables CBDC-compatible UPI QR code for seamless payments

HDFC Bank launched UPI QR code interoperable with the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

The interoperable UPI QR code will allow HDFC Bank merchants, who have been onboarded on the bank’s CBDC platform, to accept payments from their customers in the form of Digital Rupee currency, India’s largest private sector bank.

Numaligarh Refinery in Assam upgraded to 'Schedule A' category enterprise; to have more autonomy

The Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Assam has been upgraded from ‘Schedule B’ to ‘Schedule A’ category Central Public Sector Enterprises by the Centre.

The upgradation to Schedule A will now make NRL eligible to achieve the status of Navratna which in turn will give higher financial autonomy.

India-ASEAN conference on traditional medicines on 20th July 2023

India is going to hold an ASEAN countries conference on traditional medicines on July 20, 2023.

Ten ASEAN countries including Cambodia, Vietnam will be participating in the conference.

The Ministry of Ayush with support from the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Mission to ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat is gearing up to host the conference.
