CBC chief Manish Desai appointed principal director general of PIB

Central Bureau of Communications (CBC) chief Manish Desai will take over the government’s media outreach unit Press Information Bureau (PIB), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said.

He will assume charge of PIB on the superannuation of Rajesh Malhotra, who has been at the helm of the media outreach unit since 2022.

UPI crosses 10 billion monthly transactions, confirms NPCI

The centre’s contactless digital payments framework, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), crossed 10 billion monthly transactions in August, confirmed the Reserve Bank’s non-profit agency, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Monthly transaction count on UPI crossed 10.24 billion on 30 August, with net transaction value of ₹15.18 trillion.

All-India House Price Index Rises 5.1% In Q1FY24: RBI Data

Reserve Bank of India released its quarterly house price index (HPI)1 (base: 2010-11=100) for Q1:2023-24, based on transaction-level data received from the registration authorities in ten major cities (viz., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Mumbai).

Jalan Kalrock Consortium commits Rs 100 crore to secure Jet Airways control

Jalan Kalrock Consortium, the successful bidder for financially challenged Jet Airways, has deposited Rs 100 crore into the airline. This action follows the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal's (NCLAT) directive permitting the execution of the revival strategy.

With this recent contribution, JKC's total investment in Jet Airways has reached Rs 250 crore.

The Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) and IIT-Guwahati have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to develop technology for production of marketable green carbon from bamboo dust.

SEBI releases new guidelines to improve cybersecurity framework for stock exchanges

SEBI has come out with guidelines to strengthen the existing cyber security and cyber resilience framework for stock exchanges and other market infrastructure institutions (MIIs).

Under the guidelines, MIIs will have to maintain offline, encrypted backups of data and regularly test these backups at least every quarter to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
