Russia launches first Angara-A5 space rocket from Far East cosmodrome

The flagship Angara A5 -- a powerful spacecraft designed to carry heavy payloads into low Earth orbit -- took off from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East. The Angara family of rockets, developed to replace the Soviet-designed Proton rockets, is central to Russia's strategy to secure its independence in accessing outer space and to reduce reliance.

India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise DUSTLIK begins on April 15

The fifth edition of India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise Dustlik will commence at Termez District in Uzbekistan from April 15 onwards. Participating contingents from the Indian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan will undergo joint training sessions during the exercise.

India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise DUSTLIK begins on April 15

The fourth edition of the joint military exercise between the Indian Army and Uzbekistan Army was held on February 20 last year at the Foreign Training Node, Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. The Indian Army contingent comprises troops from an infantry battalion from the Garhwal Rifles Regiment. The first edition of the exercise was held in Uzbekistan in November 2019.

India outpaces China in digital services exports: WTO report

India has secured its place as the world's 4th largest exporter of digitally delivered services, contributing more than a fifth to the global trade in services. As per recent Global Trade Outlook and Statistics report by World Trade Organisation, India's exports of digitally delivered services reached $257 billion in 2023, marking a 17% increase compared to previous year.

Japan-based MUFG to acquire 20% stake in HDFC Bank's non-banking arm at close $10 bn valuation

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (MUFG) is getting ready to acquire a 20 per cent stake in HDB Financial Services, a non-banking subsidiary of HDFC Bank, at a valuation of $9-10 billion. HDFC Bank, the country's largest private lender, currently owns around 95 per cent of HDB Financial Services, with the remaining 5% held by employees under an Employee Stock Ownership plan.

Industrial production grows 5.7 per cent in Feb

India’s industrial production grew 5.7 per cent in February 2024, according to official data released. The factory output measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) witnessed a growth of 6 per cent in February 2023. The data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed that the manufacturing sector’s output grew 5 per cent in February 2024.

India, US to reactivate observation system for Indian Ocean

India and the US have decided to reactivate the Indian Ocean Observing System, a network of 36 moored buoys in the high seas to collect high-resolution ocean and atmospheric data for weather forecasts. The moored buoys are part of the Research Moored Array for African-Asian-Australian Monsoon Analysis and Prediction program.
