Who Can Apply For IBPS SO 2017 Recruitment Exam : Eligibility Criteria

The Institute of Banking Selection conducts the IBPS SO exam to recruit for the post of ‘Specialist Officer’ in public sector banks.

This exam is an excellent opportunity for aspirants who want to enter the banking sector in a specialised field like BE/BTech/MBA etc.

The posts that the IBPS SO exam recruits for, are as follows:

As the IBPS SO eligibility criteria differs for various posts, there is a lot of confusion among the aspirants regarding the same.

General Eligibility (Common for all posts)

Age

Minimum:  28 Years

Maximum: 30 Years

* Age relaxation is available for various categories.

Nationality

One should be an Indian citizen.

*Some special cases are mentioned here.

Educational Qualifications

It should be noted by the candidates that they can apply for ONLY ONE post. Multiple applications would be rejected.

1. For IBPS SO – IT Officer (Grade – I)

– A 4 year long Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (BE/ B.Tech) in one of the following branches (only):

Computer Science/ Applications

Information Technology

Electronics

Electronics and Telecommunication

Electronics and Instrumentation

Electronics and Communication

OR

– A Post Graduate Degree in one of the following branches (only) :

Computer Science/ Applications

Information Technology

Electronics

Electronics and Telecommunication

Electronics and Instrumentation

Electronics and Communication

OR

– A graduate who has passed the DOEACC ‘B’ Level.

*The DOEACC (Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Classes)  ‘B’ Level is a government recognised course that is considered equivalent to an MCA degree course. The examination for this course is conducted by NIELIT.

FAQ: Is a ‘BE/ B.Tech. in Electronics and Electrical’ eligible for IBPS SO (IT Officer)?

Ans:  NO. Apart from the engineering branches stated in the table, no other specialisation (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical etc.) is considered eligible.

 

2. For IBPS SO – Marketing Officer (Grade – I)

A graduate in any discipline.

  AND

One of the following post graduate degrees (only):

MMS (Marketing) (Full Time)

MBA (Marketing)

PGDBA (Marketing)(Full Time)

PGDBM (Marketing)(Full Time)

PGDM (Marketing)(Full Time)

PGPM (Marketing)(Full Time)

* For dual degrees, one specialisation has to be in the prescribed field.

* For major/ minor specialisations, ‘major’ specialisation should be in the prescribed field.

* Candidates with a PG Degree (MMS or MBA)/ PG Diploma with more than two  specialisations are NOT ELIGIBLE.

FAQ: Is an MBA with specialisation in Finance, Operations etc. eligible for IBPS SO (Marketing Officer)?

Ans:  NO. Apart from the marketing, no other MBA specialisation is considered eligible.

 

3. For IBPS SO – Agricultural Field Officer (Grade – I)

– A 4 – year graduate degree in one of the following fields (only) :

Agriculture

Horticulture Animal Husbandry

Veterinary Science

Dairy Science

Fishery Science Pisciculture

Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation

Co-operation And Banking

Agro-Forestry / Forestry Agricultural Biotechnology

Agricultural Business Management

Food Science

Food Technology Dairy Technology

Agricultural Engineering

4. For IBPS SO – Rajbhasha Adhikari (Grade – I)

        Post Graduate in Hindi with English as a subject in graduation.

OR

       Post Graduate in Sanskrit with English as a subject in graduation.

5. For IBPS SO – Law Officer (Grade – I)

A bachelor’s degree in LAW (LLB).

AND

Enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council.

6. For IBPS SO – HR/ Personnel Officer (Grade – I)

A graduate degree.

AND

A full time Post Graduate degree or a Post Graduate diploma in one of the following fields (only):

Personnel Management

Industrial Relations

Human Resources (HR)

Human Resources Development (HRD)

Social Work

Labour Law
