SSC CHSL Selection Process: Tier 1

The SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam will include multiple-choice questions which will be provided in both English and Hindi language for papers 2, 3, and 4. Candidates will be given 2 marks for each correct answer, but for every wrong answer, 0.50 marks will be deducted. Candidates need to be careful of this while answering.

Candidates will have a total of 60 minutes to complete the exam, while candidates who are eligible for a scribe will have 80 minutes.

Candidates are required to score a minimum qualifying mark in each section to be eligible for the next stage of the selection process. The qualifying marks for each section are decided by the SSC and are subject to change every year. The candidates who clear the Tier I exam are shortlisted for the Tier II exam.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2024: Tier 2

The SSC CHSL exam pattern has been changed in 2022, which is expected to be followed for the 2024 SSC CHSL exam, candidates can find the updated exam pattern below.

The SSC CHSL Tier-II exam will be conducted in two parts on the same day: Session-I and Session-II. Session-I covers Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III. Session-II covers Module-II of Section-III. Candidates must pass all sections of Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Tier 2: Skill Test

Module-II of Section-III of the SSC CHSL examination involves the conduct of Skill Test/Typing Test during Session-II on the same day. The details regarding the Skill Test/Typing Test is as follows:

  1. The Skill Test/Typing Test is of qualifying nature.
  2. Evaluation of the Skill Test/Typing Test will be done according to the guidelines available on the Commission’s website.
  3. Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places.
  4. The Skill Test/Typing Test will be conducted as per the following scheme:
    • Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:
      • Skill Test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators. No candidate is exempted from appearing in the Skill Test.

SSC CHSL Skill Test For Data Entry Operator(DEO)

In this test, candidates are required to maintain a data entry speed of 8,000 key impressions per hour. The test duration is 15 minutes. Candidates are provided with an English document comprising approximately 2000-2200 strokes or key depressions to be typed within the given time frame.

SSC CHSL Skill Test For The Post of DEO in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG)

In this test, candidates’ typing speed will be assessed at 15,000 key depressions per hour. The assessment will be based on accurately typing words or key depressions from a provided passage. The test will of 15 minutes, and each candidate will receive printed material in English containing about 3700-4000 key depressions to type into the test computer.

SSC CHSL Skill Test For Lower Division Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (LDS/JSA)

In this test, candidates’ typing speed will be evaluated at 10,500 key depressions per hour. The assessment relies on accurately typing words or key depressions from a provided passage. The test duration is 15 minutes, and each candidate receives printed material in English containing about 9000 key depressions to type into the test computer.

SSC CHSL Final Selection

The final selection of the candidates is done based on their performance in Tier I and Tier II exams. The SSC prepares a merit list based on the marks obtained by the candidates in all two stages of the selection process.

The candidates who score higher marks in two stages are given priority in the merit list. The candidates who clear the Tier II exam will be further called for document verification. The candidates are required to produce the original documents for verification, failing which their candidature may be canceled.
