RBI Grade B Eligibility

RBI Grade B Eligibility must be known to every aspirant. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducts the RBI Grade B Examination every year to select candidates for the post of Officer in Grade B (General/DR/DEPR/DSIM). Candidates who aspire to apply for the RBI Grade B 2024 examination should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria set by RBI. In this blog, we will discuss the RBI Grade B Eligibility in detail as mentioned in last year's i.e 2023 RBI Grade B Notification.

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024

The candidates will have to satisfy the RBI Grade B Eligibility based on various parameters. Some of the parameters are mentioned below:

  • Educational Qualification
  • Age Limit
  • Nationality
  • No. of Attempts

All the aspirants must make a note that if they fail to meet any of the RBI Grade B Eligibility criteria then they can be rejected at any stage of the selection process. This means that even after clearing the exam, if found that the aspirant doesn't meet eligibility, then he/she will not be entitled to get the RBI Grade B Posting.

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024 - Age Limit

Candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years. There will be a reference date for the calculation of the age limit which will be notified along with the RBI Grade B Notification 2024. The reference date will be updated here as and when out. Certain age relaxations are provided to candidates belonging to specific categories.

Category-wise age relaxation as per RBI Grade B Eligibility

  • Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST): 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 10 years for UR/Gen, 13 years for OBC, and 15 years for SC/ST
  • Ex-Servicemen (including military services): 5 years
  • Ex-Bank Employees: 5 years
  • Experienced Candidates - Scheduled Commercial Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies, All India Financial Institutions, RBI: Should not exceed 33 years of experience.

 

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2023 - Educational Qualifications

Educational Qualification is one of the most important parameters of RBI Grade B Eligibility. The minimum educational qualifications required for the RBI Grade B 2024 examination are as follows:

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - (General)Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or PostGraduation in any discipline / Equivalent technical or professional qualification with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in the aggregate of all semesters/years.
Note:
Graduation Level:
Any such course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Class XII and is at least 3 years duration/ candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.
Post-Graduation Level:
Any such course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least of 2 years duration / recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical Post-graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.
Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DEPREssential:
a. A Master's Degree in Economics (or any other master's degree where
"Economics" is the principal constituent* of the curriculum/syllabus, namely MA / MSc in Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Financial Economics, Business Economics, Agricultural Economics, and Industrial Economics) OR
b. A Master's Degree in Finance (or any other master's degree where "Finance" is the principal constituent* of the curriculum/syllabus, namely MA / MSc in Quantitative Finance, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Techniques, International Finance, Business Finance, Banking and Trade Finance, International and Trade Finance, Project and Infrastructure Finance, Agri Business Finance).

For a) and b) above, a minimum of 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade is required in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognized Indian or foreign University / Institute.
Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DSIMEssential:
a. A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical
Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics/ Applied Statistics &
Informatics with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years; OR
b. Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an
equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and one year post
graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an Institute of repute; OR
c. Master's degree course in Data Science/ Artificial Intelligence/ Machine
Learning/ Big Data Analytics, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent
grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years from a recognized University/
Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved
programme; OR
d. Four-year Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/ years in Data Science/ AI/ ML/ Big Data Analytics from a recognized University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme; OR
e. Two years Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) with a
minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all
semesters/years from a recognized University/ Institute, an institute of national importance, UGC/ AICTE approved programme.

 

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024 - Experience Required

It is expected that there will be no requirement for experience for the RBI Grade B 2024 examination. So, even if you are a fresher and satisfy all other RBI Grade B Eligibility, you can apply.

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024 - Nationality

To fulfill the nationality needs, candidates must be either of the following:

  1. A citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  4. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

RBI Grade B Eligibility 2024 - Number of Attempts

The maximum number of attempts for the RBI Grade B examination is six for candidates belonging to the General category. However, for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories, there is no limit on the number of attempts.

A. The RBI Grade B exam is conducted in three stages: Phase I (Prelims), Phase 2 (Mains), and the Interview round.

A. Yes, there is negative marking in Phase 1 of the RBI Grade B exam. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer in RBI Grade B Phase 1.

Q. What is the Application Fee for RBI Grade B 2024 Exam? +

Expected Application fee for the RBI Grade B is as follows:
For GEN/OBC/EWSs - Rs 850 + 18% GST
For SC/ST/PwBD - Rs 100 + 18% GST
For RBI Staff - Nil.
There will be no application fee for the RBI staff.
