The Staff Selection Commission administers an examination once a year to choose applicants for the position of Junior Hindi Translator. Junior Hindi translators are in charge of planning meetings  & seminars in the Hindi language and interpreting documents in Hindi. Junior Hindi translators have enormous opportunities for growth based on their performance. Candidates who pass the first round of interviews, which is a computer-based test, will be called to the second stage, which is a descriptive type paper. The candidates will be offered the job as a Junior Hindi translator based on the results of Paper-II.

Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30 to be eligible for the SSC JHT position. They must have a Master’s degree in Hindi and English as a minimum educational requirement.

Selection Process For SSC JHT Exam

SSC JHT Exam Syllabus

SSC JHT Syllabus includes topics that test the different aspects of a candidate’s attitude towards the job requirements like – 

Paper- I. Candidates’ translation abilities, as well as their ability to write and interpret the two languages accurately precisely, and effectively, will be tested in Paper-II. The syllabus for both the papers has been given below:- 

Paper I

  • General English – In this section, the questions will test your vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, spelling test, synonyms, unseen passages, error correction, idioms & phrases, fill in the blanks, articles, tenses, sentence completion, and structure. 
  • General Hindi – In this section, the questions will be asked from proverbs, phrases/muhavare, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, plural forms, error detection, fill in the blanks, and the Knowledge of Hindi.

 Paper-II contains 4 descriptive questions –

  • Essay Writing – 1 English essay writing question and 1 Hindi Essay Writing Question.
  • Translations – One passage for conversion from English to Hindi and the other one from Hindi to English. 
  • Candidates will be required to translate one Hindi passage into English and one English passage into Hindi in the translation section.
  • Candidates must write one essay in Hindi & one essay in English during the essay writing process.
