CLAT Colleges list 2023

CLAT stands for Common Law Admissions Test. It is an all-India entrance examination conducted by the National Law Schools/Universities for admissions to their undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs (LL.B & LL.M). These law colleges offer multiple courses including 3 Year LLB, 5 Year LLB, LLM, and also Ph.D. in Law, in both full-time and part-time modes. CLAT Colleges 2023

Candidates must note that there are various CLAT 2023 participating institutes including National Law Universities (NLUs), and some private colleges/institutions where law aspirants can apply for admission. If you aspire to become a professional law graduate, it's important for you to pursue legal education from some of the best law schools/universities of India.

  • It is important for the eligible students to know about the top list of law schools/universities which come under CLAT, i.e. they give admission through CLAT score/rank.
  • All the NLUs participating in CLAT are listed on the official website of CLAT Consortium with details of courses offered and more. Moreover, candidates who are filling up the application form have to mark the CLAT colleges in order of preference for the admission process. This is done so that when the CLAT Results are declared, the consortium will prepare a merit list mentioning names of shortlisted candidates for each NLU. The same merit list will be used by the consortium for conducting CLAT 2023 Counselling. Besides, NLUs there are some top private law colleges under CLAT in India that accept CLAT scores for admissions.

3The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU)The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, Act No. 41 of 1997, by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature, substituted by Act No. 06 of 2018.
4West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS)The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IXof 1999). It is a university as per sub-section (f) of section 2 and section 12-B of the UGC Act, 1956 and has permanent affiliation from the Bar Council of India.

6National Law University, JodhpurHidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), named after one of the greatest legal luminaries of the country, Hon'ble Shri Justice Mohammad Hidayatullah, was established in 2003 by the Government of Chhattisgarh through the Hidayatullah National University of Law, Chhattisgarh, Act, (No. 10 of 2003).
7Gujarat National Law University, GandhinagarIt is a Research- based Teaching University, established under the Gujarat National Law University Act, 2003, recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
8Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law UniversityIt was established by an Act of Legislature of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 (U.P. Act No. 28 of 2005) which came into force on 4th January 2006. The University became functional in July, 2006.
9Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, PunjabIt has been established by the State Legislature of Punjab by enacting the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006).
10Chanakya National Law University It came into being at Patna under the able guidance of its founding former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Lakshminath. CNLU was established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006.
11National University of Advanced Legal StudiesIt was established by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature, which merged the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), established by the Bar Council of Kerala in 2002, with the NUALS.
12National Law University Odisha (NLUO)It was established by Act 4 of 2008 and started its Academic Activities from the year 2009.
13National University of Study and Research in Law, RanchiIt was established by Act No. 4 of Jharkhand State in 2010. The University has subsequently been recognized by the University Grants commission.
14National Law University and Judicial Academy, AssamAssam was established by the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009.
15Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law UniversityIt was established in the year 2008 by the government of Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam through DSNLU Act, 2008 to impart quality legal education. The University is recognized u/s 2(f) and 12B of UGC Act 1956 and has the recognition of the BCI.
16Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU)TNNLU, one of the youngest, premier, and fully residential national law universities in the country, was established in 2012 by the Tamil Nadu Act No. 09 of 2012.
17Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai (MNLU Mumbai)It is one of the premier national law universities established in the State of Maharashtra to promote world class legal education and research.
18Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (MNLU, Nagpur)It was established by the Government of Maharashtra by way of enactment known as the Maharashtra National Law University Act.
