The UAE government awarded Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt with its Golden Visa. The Golden Visa system essentially offers long-term residency to people with outstanding talents.

In 2019, UAE implemented a new system for long-term residence visas enabling foreigners to live, work & study there without the need of a national sponsor & with 100% ownership of their business.

CBSE launches Young Warrior movement to combat Covid-19

CBSE launched a nationwide Young Warrior movement to engage 5 million young people to fight against Covid-19. This movement is expected to impact 50 million people.

The Board has launched the movement together with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, YuWaah-UNICEF, and a multi-stakeholder consortium of over 950 partners.

Govt to open one-stop centres (OSCs) tackle cases of violence against women

The government will be opening One-Stop Centres (OSCs) in 10 missions across nine countries. These centers will be supported by the Women and Child Development Ministry and operated by the External Affairs Ministry. One OSC will be established in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, Australia, Canada, and Singapore, while two will be established in Saudi Arabia.

Ayush Minister launches ACCR Portal and 3rd version of Ayush Sanjivani App

Ayush Ministry launched its Ayush Clinical Case Repository (ACCR) portal and the 3rd version of Ayush Sanjivani App in a virtual event. The portal will provide access to clinical outcomes in the field of alternative therapy, and further research and analysis. This portal aims to aggregate information about clinical outcomes achieved by Ayush practitioners on a large scale.

Bangladesh agrees $200 million currency swap deal to help Sri Lanka

Bangladesh agreed to give Sri Lanka loans of at least $200 million from foreign exchange reserves under a currency swap deal. Sri Lanka will repay over three months with 2% interest on the Libor rate. Sri Lanka’s foreign currency reserves stand around $4 billion.

It is the 1st time Bangladesh is giving loans to another country from the reserves by swapping currency.

Amartya Sen to be honoured with Spain's Princess of Asturias Award 2021

Economist and Philosopher Amartya Kumar Sen, who studied the causes of famines, to be recognized with the Princess of Asturias award in the social sciences category. The 50,000-euro award is one of 8 prizes, including in the arts, communications, and sports, handed out annually by the Asturias Princess Foundation, which is named for Spanish Crown Princess Leonor.

Lakshmi Bhandar Project and two other initiatives launched in West Bengal

As part of the Lakshmi Bhandar project, poor families will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 500 from the government. Families from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families are eligible to receive Rs 1,000. Student Credit Card initiative launched to help students receive low-interest loans up to Rs 10 lakh for higher studies.
