Liz Truss elected UK PM, 3rd woman PM to hold UK reins

Mary Elizabeth Truss, prominently referred to as Liz Truss was announced as the next prime minister of the United Kingdom, after she defeated rival Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party leadership race.

Truss, 47, had emerged as a contender for the prime ministerial role after her predecessor Boris Johnson agreed to step down.

Indian GM Aravindh Chithambaram wins Dubai Open chess tournament

Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram emerged champion in the 22nd Dubai Open chess tournament on Sunday, with 7.5 points as seven Indians finished in the top 10.

This is sixth overall, fifth individual triumph of the year out of the eight tournaments he played. The last tournament he played was over 1.5 months ago which he won at 41st Benasque Open 2022.

ISRO successfully demonstrates new technology with Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (IAD)

An IAD developed by VSSC, has been successfully test flown in a Rohini sounding rocket from TERLS,Thumba.

The IAD has systematically reduced the velocity of the payload through aerodynamic drag and followed the predicted trajectory.

The IAD has huge potential in variety of space applications like recovery of spent stages of rocket, for landing payloads on to Mars or Venus.

HAL-L&T Consortium Bags Rs 860 Crore Contract for PSLV

HAL-L&T consortium bagged an Rs 860 crore contract for the end-to-end realisation of five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV) over a period of four years from the NewsSpace India Limited (NSIL).

The contract was exchanged today between HAL and NSIL during the inaugural session of the 7th Bengaluru Space Expo 2022 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina has announced his retirement from all forms of Cricket.

Earlier in 2020, Raina had announced his retirement from international cricket. His announcement had came in less than an hour after MS Dhoni had announced retirement his on 15 August.

As an India player, Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20s.
