According to the Foreign Trade Policy, Towns of Export Excellence (TEE) are granted several benefits to enhance their export capabilities:
a. Common Service Provider (CSP) Benefits under EPCG Scheme:
Common Service Providers in TEEs are entitled to authorization under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Scheme, facilitating the import of capital goods for producing quality goods and services.
b. Priority Access to MAI Funds:
Recognized associations of units in TEEs can avail financial assistance under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) scheme on a priority basis. This support is aimed at export promotion projects, including marketing, capacity building, and technological services.
c. Recognition Criteria Based on Production Value:
Towns producing goods worth Rs. 750 crore or more can be recognized as TEEs, based on their potential for growth in exports. For sectors like handloom, handicraft, agriculture, and fisheries, the threshold is Rs. 150 crore.
These measures are designed to bolster the export performance and economic development of identified towns.
