The sentence mentions that children had to be called four or five times. Filling the blank with 'immediately' implies that when they were asked to come, they came right away and this is incorrect as they had to be called many times. So, option b) is incorrect. 'Quickly' means the same as 'immediately'. So, option d) is incorrect as well.
'Reluctantly' means 'in a way that shows that you are not willing to do something and are therefore slow to do it'. This fits the context of the sentence.
