Directions : Read the data carefully and answer the following question.

The bar graph given below shows the percentage of unbaked bricks out of total number of bricks (baked + unbaked) manufactured and the percentage of sold baked bricks as the percentage of unsold baked bricks by four companies.

Number of bricks manufactured = Number of baked bricks manufactured + Number of unbaked bricks manufactured

Number of baked bricks manufactured = Number of sold baked bricks + Number of unsold baked bricks

Note:

Number of baked bricks sold by company C is 100 more than that by company D.

The average number of unbaked bricks manufactured by company B and C together is 2600.

The total number of unbaked bricks manufactured by company A and B together is __. If the total number of sold bricks by company A and B is equal and the total number of unsold bricks manufactured by company A is 25% of the total number of unsold bricks manufactured by company B, then which of the following can fill the blank?

I: 4600

II: 7200

III: 5600

1. Only I

2. Only II

3. Only III

4. Both I and II

5. All I, II and III

Correct Answer : 1
Solution :

Total number of bricks manufactured by company A = 100x

Total number of unbaked bricks manufactured by company A = 45% of 100x = 45x

Total number of sold bricks by company A = (100x - 45x)*120/(100+120) = 30x

Total number of sold bricks by company B = 30x

Total number of unbaked bricks manufactured by company B = (35/65) * (100 + 30)/30 *30x = 70x

Total number of unbaked bricks manufactured by company A and B together = 45x + 70x = 115x

I: 115x = 4600 => x = 40

II: 115x = 7200 => x = 62.608.. (not possible because the number of bricks should be integer)

III: 115x = 5600 => x = 48.695.. (not possible because the number of bricks should be integer)

Hence, option 'a' is correct.
