Question :
Directions : Read the data carefully and answer the following questions.
Below given are two series. Series 1 contains one missing term and series 2 contains one wrong term in each. Both series have different pattern.
Series 1: 121.5, 162, 216, 288, X, 512
Series 2: 1169, 808, 173n, X - 90, 165, (X/6)1/n
Where n is the largest prime factor of X.
Difference between the value of X and correct term of series 2 are closest to the perfect square of which of the following integer?
Solution :
Series 1:
121.5 * 4/3 = 162
162 * 4/3 = 216
216 * 4/3 = 288
288 * 4/3 = 384
384 * 4/3 = 512
X = 384
Series 2:
Prime factors of 384 = 27*3
n = 3
1169, 808, 519, 294, 175, 4
1169 - 192 = 808
808 - 172 = 519
519 - 152 = 294
294 - 132 = 125 (not 165)
125 - 112 = 4
Difference between the value of X and correct term of series 2 = 384 - 125 = 259
So, square of 16 (256) is nearest to 259.
