Company A: Total employees in department X is 33(1/3)% more than that in department Z. The ratio of total employees in department X to that in department Y is 13: 11. The difference between Total employees in department Y and department Z is 5.

Company B: The ratio of total employees in department X to that in department Y is 2: 3. Total employees in department Y is 38(6/13)% more than that in department Z of company A. Total employees in department Z is 250% of the difference between total employees in department X and that in department Y.

Company C: Total employees in department X is 80% of that in department Z. Average of total employees in department X and department Z is 36 and total employees in department Y is 5% of the product of total employees in department X and Z together.

What is the difference between the average number of employees in all the three departments of company A and that of company B?

1. 5

2. 2

3. 8

4. 4

5. None of these

Correct Answer : 5
Solution :

Company A:

Let total employees in department Z = 3x

Total employees in department X = 133(1/3)% of 3x = 4x

Total employees in department Y = 4x * (11/13) = 44x/13

According to the question:

(44x/13) - 3x = 5

44x - 39x = 65

x = 13

Total employees in department Z = 3x = 39

Total employees in department X = 4x = 52

Total employees in department Y = 44x/13 = 44

Company B:

Total employees in department Y = 138(6/13)% of 39 = 54

Total employees in department X = 54 * (2/3) = 36

Total employees in department Z = 250% of (54 - 36) = 45

Company C:

Let total employees in department X and Z is 8x and 10x respectively.

(8x + 10x)/2 = 36

x = 4

Total employees in department X = 8x = 32

Total employees in department Z = 10x = 40

Total employees in department Y = 5% of (32 * 40) = 64

CompanyTotal employees in XTotal employees in YTotal employees in Z
A524439
B365445
C326440

Average number of employees in all the three departments of company A = (52 + 44 + 39)/3 = 45

Average number of employees in all the three departments of company B = (36 + 54 + 45)/3 = 45

Required difference = 45 - 45 = 0
