Question :

Directions : Read the following data carefully and answer the following questions. The table shows the average of raw material left and finished products together in Factory A, factory B, and Factory C. The total raw material left and finished products together in Delhi in all three Factories is 4000 and the total raw material left and finished products in Kolkata in all three Factories is the same as in Surat in all three factories.

The average of raw material left and finished products in Factory A and Factory BThe average of raw material left and finished products in Factory B and Factory CThe average of raw material left and finished products in Factory C and Factory A
Mumbai4X + 4Y9Y5X - 50

Kolkata15Y6X + 4Y8X - 2Y
Pune12X - Y13Y8.5Y + 5X
Surat5X + 3.5Y8.5X + 1.25Y9X - 0.5Y

If the ratio of raw material left to finished products is 3: 5 in Delhi and 8: 11 in Surat respectively, then find the average of the total finished products in Surat and Delhi together.

1. 2350

2. 2150

3. 2450

4. 2550

5. 2250

Correct Answer : 1
Solution :

The total raw material left and finished products in Kolkata = The total raw material left and finished products in Surat

15Y + 6X + 4Y + 8X - 2Y = 5X + 3.5Y + 8.5X + 1.25Y + 9X - 0.5Y

17Y + 14X = 22.5X + 4.25Y

8.5X = 12.75Y

X = 3Y/2 ... (i)

The total raw material left and finished products in Delhi = 4000

4X + 7Y + 8X + 10X = 4000

22X + 7Y = 4000

From (i)

22 * 3Y/2 + 7Y = 4000

33Y + 7Y = 4000

40Y = 4000

Y = 100

X = 150

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory A and Factory B = 1000 * 2 = 2000

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory B and Factory C = 900 * 2 = 1800

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory C and Factory A = 700 * 2 = 1400

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory A, Factory B, and Factory C = (2000 + 1800 + 1400)/2 = 2600

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory A = 2600 - 1800 = 800

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory B = 2600 - 1400 = 1200

The total raw material left and finished products in Mumbai in Factory C = 2600 - 2000 = 600

The average of raw material left and finished products in Factory A and Factory BThe average of raw material left and finished products in Factory B and Factory CThe average of raw material left and finished products in Factory C and Factory AThe raw material left and finished products in Factory A The material left and finished products in Factory BThe raw material left and finished products in Factory C
Mumbai10009007008001200600
Delhi130012001500160010001400
Kolkata15001300100012001800800
Pune170013001600200014001200
Surat110014001300100012001600

The total raw material left and finished products in Delhi in all three Factories = 1600 + 1000 + 1400 = 4000

The total finished products in Delhi in all three Factories = 4000 * 5/8 = 2500

The total raw material left and finished products in Surat in all three Factories = 1000 + 1200 + 1600 = 3800

The total finished products in Surat in all three Factories = 3800 * 11/19 = 2200

Hence, the required average = (2500 + 2200)/ 2 = 2350
