Directions :Read the following data carefully and answer the following questions.

There are three institutions A, B, and C in which some students (boys + girls). The total number of boys in B is 48. The difference between the total number of boys in A and B is equal to the difference between the total number of boys in A and C, where the total number of boys in C is greater than the total number of boys in A. The total number of girls in A, B, and C is consecutive multiples of 6 respectively and the total number of boys in A is least. The total number of students in A and C is 64 and 84 respectively.

What is the average of the total number of girls in A, B, and C?

1. 24

2. 36

3. 42

4. 48

5. 30

Correct Answer : 5
Solution :

The difference between the total number of boys in A and B = The difference between the total number of boys in A and C (The total number of boys in C > A)

C - A = B - A

C = B = 48

The total number of girls in C = 84 - 48 = 36

The total number of girls in B = 36 - 6 = 30

The total number of girls in A = 30 - 6 = 24

The total number of boys in A = 64 - 24 = 40

The total number of girls in C = 36

The total number of girls in B = 30

The total number of girls in A = 24

Hence, the required average = (36 + 30 + 24)/3 = 30
