Question :

Directions :Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

There are total 24000 students appeared in bank exams in a city in 2016. Respective ratio of boys and girls among them is 5:3. Each student appeared in one among the three viz. only IBPS exams, only SBI exams and IBPS and SBI both exams.

Only IBPS: 30% of the total number of boys appeared in only IBPS exams and respective ratio of the number of boys and number of girls who appeared in only IBPS exams is 3:2. 45% of the total number of students appeared in only IBPS exam are in clerk exams and rest in PO.

Only SBI: Number of students appeared in clerks exams is 25 more than the number of students appeared in only IBPS clerk exams. Number of students appeared in PO exam is 125 more than the number of students appeared in only IBPS PO exam. Respective ratio of boys and girls is 9:8.

IBPS and SBI both: 40% of the total number of students appeared in both IBPS and SBI exams are in clerk exams and rest in PO.

Find the relation between following two quantities:

Quantity I: Total number of students appeared in IBPS clerk exam.

Quantity II: Total Number of students appeared in IBPS and SBI both exams.

1. Quantity I > Quantity II

2. Quantity I < Quantity II

3. Quantity I = Quantity II

4. Quantity I ≥ Quantity II

5. Quantity I ≤ Quantity II

Correct Answer : 2
Solution :

Total number of students appeared in bank exams in the city in 2016 = 24000

Total number of boys appeared in bank exams in the city in 2016 = 5/8 x 24000 = 15000

Total number of girls appeared in bank exams in the city in 2016 = 3/8 x 24000 = 9000

Only IBPS:

Number of boys = 30/100 x 15000 = 4500

Number of girls = 2/3 x 4500 = 3000

Total number of students = 4500 + 3000 = 7500

Number of students appeared in clerk exam = 45/100 x 7500 = 3375

Number of students appeared in PO exam = 7500 - 3375 = 4125

Only SBI:

Number of students appeared in clerk exam = 3375 + 25 = 3400

Number of students appeared in PO exam = 4125 + 125 = 4250

Total number of students = 3400 + 4250 = 7650

Number of boys = 9/17 x 7650 = 4050

Number of girls = 8/17 x 7650 = 3600

IBPS and SBI both:

Total number of students = 24000 - 7500 - 7650 = 8850

Number of boys = 15000 - 4500 - 4050 = 6450

Number of girls = 9000 - 3000 - 3600 = 2400

Number of students appeared in clerk exam = 40/100 x 8850 = 3540

Number of students appeared in PO exam = 8850 - 3540 = 5310

Only SBI76504050360042503400

Quantity I:

Required value = 3375 + 3540 = 6915

Quantity II:

Required value = 8850

Hence, Quantity I < Quantity II
