A * B means A is neither greater than nor smaller than B if '*' is a square number as well as a multiple of 5.

Select the correct option that should fill in the blanks respectively in the following statement for the conclusion P < C and T > Y to definitely follow from the statement:

Statement: P 529 J ____ F 66 T 25 C 8 S 91 U ____ Y

I) 900, 70

II) 143, 625

III) 98, 256

1. Only I follows

2. Only I and II follow

3. Only III follows

4. Only II and III follow

5. All of them follow

Correct Answer : 2
Solution :

P 529 J ____ F 66 T 25 C 8 S 91 U ____ Y

529 is a square number. So, P < J

66 is a multiple of 11. So, F ≤ T

25 is a square number as well as a multiple of 5. So, T = C

8 is a cube number. So, C > S

91 is a multiple of 7. So, S ≥ U

P < J ____ F T = C > S U ____ Y

I) 900, 70

900 is a square number as well as a multiple of 5. So, J = F

70 is a multiple of 7. So, U ≥ Y

P < J = F T = C > S U ≥ Y

P < J = F T = C.

P < C. This conclusion is true.

T = C > S U ≥ Y

T > Y. This conclusion is true.

II) 143, 625

143 is a multiple of 11. So, J ≤ F

625 is a square number as well as a multiple of 5. So, U = Y

P < J ≤ F T = C > S U = Y

P < J ≤ F T = C

P < C. This conclusion is true.

T = C > S U = Y

T > Y. This conclusion is true.

III) 98, 256

98 is a multiple of 7. So, J ≥ F

256 is a square number. So, U < Y

P < J ≥ F T = C > S U < Y

P < J ≥ F T = C. This is false

T = C > S U < Y. This is false.

Hence, the answer is option (b).
