In this step following operations are done:

For numbers: the smallest number is 17

It is changed as follows:

17 = 1 X 7= 7 and it is placed at the extreme right of step 1.

For words: the first word according to the alphabetical series is A.

The following changes are-

The exact middle letter is replaced by its place value. The place value of 'd' is 4. So, D is replaced by 4.

And it is placed at the extreme left end of step 1.
