The passage cannot begin with Sentence D, as D talks about an additional event in which the 'blitzkreig' was used. D uses the term 'also', this suggests that first the passage must tell us about where else it was used, only then can D refer to this, and tell us where it was also used. Thus, Option 4 is eliminated, and Option 1 is the right answer.
