In short span of time and future needs of the arid region, on 27th September, 2000, the NRCAH was elevated to full fledged Institute as Central Institute for Arid Horticulture (CIAH), Bikaner, Rajasthan
The Central Institute for Cotton Research (ICAR), Nagpur and its Regional Stations at Coimbatore and Sirsa provide basic research support and also take part in some of the research and evaluation activities of the AICRP on Cotton.

IIHR has its main research station at Hessaraghatta, Bengaluru with 263 ha of land and Regional experiment station at Bhuvaneshwar in Orissa with two Krishi Vigyan Kendras both located in Karnataka state at Gonikopal in Kodagu and Hirehalli in Tumkur districts
