The Kolkata-Bangkok Highway, also known as the India - Myanmar - Thailand Trilateral Highway, is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between India and Thailand. According to reports from June 2023, the highway is expected to be completed and operational within the next three to four years, projecting an opening around 2027. This 2,800-kilometer route will traverse multiple cities, including Kolkata, Guwahati, Kohima, Moreh in India; Tamu, Kalewa, Mandalay, Yangon in Myanmar; and Mae Sot, Sukhothai, Bangkok in Thailand, facilitating improved trade and cultural exchanges between the nations.
