The given question consists of two statements numbered I and II. You must decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question:
Find the two digit number.
Statement I: Number obtained after reversing the digits of the number is 45 more than the original number.
Statement II: Unit digit of the number is 5 more than the tens digit of the number.
1.If the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
2.If the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.
3.If the data given in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.
4.If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
5.If the data given in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.
Correct Answer : 5
Solution :
Let the number = 10x + y
From I:
Number obtained after reversing the digits =10y + x
Now,
(10y + x) - (10x + y) = 45
(y - x) = 5 .... (1)
Statement I alone is not sufficient.
From II:
Unit digit = y
Tens digit = x
Now,
y - x = 5
Statement II alone is not sufficient.
From I and II:
Since after solving statements I and II we will get the same equation which is not sufficient to answer the question.
Statement I and II together are not sufficient.
