I. Trisha scored 310 marks in a test and failed by 20 marks.

II. The maximum marks of the test are 690 more marks obtained by Trisha.

1. If the data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

2. If the data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.

3. If the data in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

4. If the data given in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.

5. If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Correct Answer : 2
Solution :

From I:

Minimum passing marks = 310 + 20 = 330

But we do not know how much maximum marks is.

So, statement I alone is not sufficient

From II:

Maximum marks = 690 + Trisha's marks

From this data we cannot answer the question,

From I and II:

Maximum marks = 690 + 310 = 1000

Minimum passing percentage = 330/1000 * 100 = 33%

Hence, data given in both statements are necessary
