The IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) Eligibility 2026 defines the criteria that candidates must fulfill to apply for various specialist roles in public sector banks. These posts include IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, Marketing Officer, and Rajbhasha Adhikari. Candidates must be Indian citizens, aged between 20 to 30 years, and meet the educational qualifications specific to the post they are applying for.

What are the three key eligibility parameters for IBPS SO 2026?

 

To apply for the IBPS SO exam, candidates must meet eligibility based on the following parameters:

  • Nationality
  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualification
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts as long as the candidate falls within the prescribed age limit.

 

IBPS SO Nationality Criteria

 

To be eligible for the IBPS SO exam, a candidate must satisfy one of the following conditions:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

What is the age limit for IBPS SO 2026?

 

The IBPS SO age criteria are applicable to all posts under the recruitment. Candidates must fall within the prescribed age bracket to be eligible.

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years

Age Relaxation (Upper Age Limit)

 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit as per government norms.

  • Relaxation can be combined with only one additional category wherever applicable
  • General and EWS candidates are not eligible for age relaxation

Is computer literacy required for IBPS SO?

 

Yes, basic computer knowledge is required for most posts except IT Officer. Candidates must have:

  • A certificate/diploma/degree in computer operations, or
  • Studied Computer/IT as a subject in school or college
