SIDBI Grade A Syllabus 2026, Assistant Manager Phase 1 and 2 Syllabus

The SIDBI Grade A syllabus will be released along with the Notification PDF for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the exam. Based on last year's notification, the SIDBI Grade A Phase 1 exam was held within 60 days of the release of the notification PDF; therefore, candidates interested in appearing for the exam should start their preparation. In this blog, we have provided the detailed Phase 1 and Phase 2 exam syllabus, along with the direct link to download the syllabus PDF.

 

What is the SIDBI Grade A syllabus?

 

The SIDBI Grade A syllabus is divided into Phase-I (Preliminary) and Phase-II (Main) exams, covering both qualifying and merit sections for all streams/grades. The syllabus is indicative and not exhaustive, meaning candidates should also stay updated with the latest developments and topics relevant to the subjects.

In Phase-I, candidates are tested on:

  • English Language
  • Reasoning Aptitude
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Computer Knowledge
  • General Awareness (Banking, Financial Sector, Economic and Social Issues)
  • MSMEs: Policy, Regulatory & Legal Framework; Finance and Management (focus on MSME)
  • Stream Specific Test (varies by stream: General, Legal, IT)

In Phase-II, the syllabus includes:

  • Paper I – English Language: Essay, précis writing, comprehension, business/office correspondence to assess writing skills.
  • Paper II – Stream Specific & MSME Knowledge: Covers MSME policy, financing, due diligence, financial ratios, NPA & recovery, NBFC financing, credit risk assessment, investment banking, merchant banking, equity, AIFs, ARCs, and promotion/development of MSMEs in India.

Note:

  1. Phase-I has objective questions, while Phase-II includes descriptive and objective sections.
  2. Shortlisting for Phase-II is based on the merit section of Phase-I.
  3. Candidates should prepare for all relevant matters under each subject, including latest developments and amendments.

What are the major sections in the SIDBI Grade A phase 1 exam?

 

The SIDBI Grade A Phase-I exam comprises seven major sections designed to test both general aptitude and domain-specific knowledge. These include English Language, Reasoning Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, and Computer Knowledge as qualifying sections, while the merit sections consist of General Awareness (with special reference to Banking, Financial Sector, and Economic & Social Issues), MSMEs: Policy, Regulatory & Legal Framework; Finance and Management with a focus on MSMEs, and a Stream Specific Test. The Phase-I exam is conducted in 120 minutes, with questions presented in bilingual format (Hindi and English) except for the English section, and only marks from the merit sections are considered for shortlisting candidates for Phase-II.
