UGC NET Syllabus 2024: The UGC NET is conducted two times (June and December) a year by the NTA (National Testing Agency). The UGC NET Exam is mainly for the candidates who are seeking a Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor job in the Indian Universities and Colleges after their post-graduation. Important Points to Remember

  1. Here are a few important points to remember the questions in Paper I intend to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test the reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate.
  2. For each correct response, the candidate will get 2 marks.
  3. There is no negative marking for an incorrect response
  4. Paper II is 100 marks based on the subject selected by the candidate
  5. No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers in the UGC NET 2024 exam.
  6. Unanswered or Marked for Review questions will not be awarded any marks.
  7. All questions in the exam are mandatory and must be attempted.

UGC NET Syllabus 2024 for Paper 1

The NTA UGC NET 2024 syllabus for paper 2 comprises the subject chosen by the candidates while filling up the form. Paper II will also consist of only 100 objective-type questions (MCQs) for 200 marks. NTA UGC NET is conducted for a total of 101 subjects. Q1. What are the eligibility criteria for appearing in the UGC NET exam?

Ans. The eligibility criteria for appearing in the UGC NET exam is a Master’s degree or equivalent degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Transgender candidates). Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent degree can also apply for UGC NET 2024.

Q2. Is there any age limit for appearing in the UGC NET exam?

Ans. There is no age limit for appearing in the UGC NET exam. However, for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the age of the candidate should not be more than 31 years

Ans. The mode of examination for UGC NET 2024 is Computer Based Test (CBT).

Q4. Can candidates apply for more than one subject in the UGC NET exam?
