The IBPS RRB Law Officer Exam Pattern 2026 provides the complete structure of the Single Online Examination conducted for the post of Officer Scale-II Specialist Officer (Law Officer). Candidates must understand the section-wise number of questions, marks, duration, and selection process to plan their preparation effectively. As per the IBPS RRB CRP RRBs XV Notification 2026, candidates applying for Officer Scale-II Specialist posts, including Law Officer, will appear for a Single Online Examination, followed by a Common Interview for shortlisted candidates.

 

IBPS RRB Law Officer Selection Process 2026

 

The selection process for the IBPS RRB Law Officer 2026 consists of two stages: a Single Online Examination and a Common Interview. Candidates must qualify in the Single Online Examination to be shortlisted for the interview. For Officers Scale-II, candidates who meet the minimum scores in each test and achieve a sufficiently high overall score will be called for the Common Interview.

The IBPS RRB Law Officer Single Online Examination 2026 consists of six tests. The examination carries 240 questions for a total of 200 marks and has a total duration of 150 minutes. The Professional Knowledge section is specifically relevant to candidates applying for the Law Officer post.

Note: Candidates can opt for either English Language or Hindi Language. English Language is conducted in English, while Hindi Language is conducted in Hindi. The other applicable tests are available in Hindi/English.

 

IBPS RRB Law Officer Negative Marking 2026

 

IBPS RRB Law Officer 2026 follows a negative marking system in the objective examination. For every question answered incorrectly, 0.25 or one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted from the candidate's score. There is no negative marking for questions that are left unanswered.

 

IBPS RRB Law Officer Cut-Off and Shortlisting 2026

 

Candidates appearing for Officer Scale-II must secure the minimum required score in each test of the Single Online Examination to be considered for the interview. However, merely qualifying in individual tests is not sufficient. Candidates must also obtain a sufficiently high overall score to be shortlisted according to merit. IBPS states that, depending on the number of vacancies, candidates in each category not exceeding three times the declared vacancies may be called for the Common Interview, subject to availability. The scores obtained in the Single Online Examination for Officer Scale-II will be used for shortlisting for the interview as well as final merit listing. Scores may be normalized using the equi-percentile method when examinations are conducted in multiple sessions.

 

IBPS RRB Law Officer Interview Pattern 2026

 

Candidates shortlisted from the Single Online Examination for Officer Scale-II will subsequently be called for the Common Interview. The interview is coordinated by the Nodal Regional Rural Bank with the assistance of NABARD and IBPS. The interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for general candidates and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates. The relative weightage of the Online Examination and Interview is 80:20 for the Officers cadre. Candidates must qualify in both the Single Online Examination and the Common Interview and rank sufficiently high in the final merit to be considered for the provisional allotment process.
