NIACL AO Selection Process 2026

 

The NIACL AO Selection Process 2026 consists of three stages designed to assess candidates' aptitude, professional knowledge, and communication skills. Candidates must qualify each stage separately to be considered for the final appointment as an Administrative Officer (Scale-I). The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the mains examination and interview. The three stages of the NIACL AO selection process are

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination

Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Examination will be shortlisted for the Main Examination. Those clearing the mains examination will be called for the interview round.

NIACL AO Preliminary Examination

 

The preliminary examination is the first stage of the recruitment process and serves as a screening test. The marks obtained in the preliminary examination are qualifying in nature and are generally not considered for preparing the final merit list. Candidates must secure both sectional and overall cut-off marks to qualify for the Main Examination.

NIACL AO Mains Examination

 

The NIACL AO Mains Examination consists of objective as well as descriptive tests. The objective paper evaluates candidates on reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English language, general awareness, and professional knowledge (for specialist officers). The descriptive paper assesses writing skills through essay and letter writing. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in both objective and descriptive papers to be shortlisted for the interview.

NIACL AO Interview

 

Candidates shortlisted after the mains examination will be invited for the interview round. The interview assesses communication skills, professional knowledge, confidence, decision-making ability, and overall suitability for the administrative officer role.
