RBI Grade B 2026 Notification will be released, providing complete details about the recruitment process for different Grade B posts under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). At present, both the short notice and the detailed notification have not yet been released. The notification PDF will provide information about the total number of vacancies, eligibility conditions, and important dates. 

The online application window is expected to be active for about 20 days from the date it begins. The RBI Grade B selection process includes three stages: Phase 1 (Prelims), Phase 2 (Mains), and an Interview. All stages will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

When is the RBI Grade B exam scheduled?

 

As per last year, this year too the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam is expected to be held around 30 to 45 days after the online application form is released, followed by Phase 2 exam, which will be held 30 to 45 days after Phase 1 exam. The expected dates of the RBI Grade B exam are as follows:

The RBI Grade B notification PDF includes age relaxation for different categories. OBC candidates get 3 years, while SC/ST candidates get 5 years of relaxation. What are the RBI Grade B nationality requirements?

 

The RBI Grade B Nationality requirements for candidates are from the following:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  3. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of settling permanently, or
  4. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

 

What is the maximum number of attempts to appear for the RBI Grade B exam?

 

The RBI allows a fixed number of attempts for General and EWS category candidates, whereas candidates from SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD categories have no attempt limit (only age limit applies). General/EWS candidates can appear a maximum of six times in the Phase 1 examination for RBI Grade B (DR)–General. Once six attempts are exhausted, they cannot apply again. These limits apply only to the Generalist post, as DEPR and DSIM do not have attempt restrictions based on attempts.

The RBI Grade B Apply Online process will begin once the notification is released. After the application window becomes active, candidates can apply through the official website. To complete registration, applicants need to visit Opportunities@RBI section, then click on current vacancies, select RBI Grade B notification, and fill the online form by entering personal and educational details. Required documents must be uploaded, the application fee must be paid, the payment status should show "paid," and the submitted application form should be downloaded for future reference.

What is the selection process for RBI Grade B?

 

As per RBI Grade B last year Notification, the selection process is being conducted to select skilled professionals across various cadre. It starts with Phase-I, an online objective test on subjects like economics, statistics, reasoning, aptitude, and English.

Qualified candidates move to Phase-II, which includes descriptive and objective papers to test analytical, writing, and role-specific skills. Shortlisted candidates are then called for a personal interview to assess personality, communication, and problem-solving abilities. The final selection is based on Phase-II marks and interview performance.

  1. Phase-I Online Examination (Objective Type):
    • For General: Single paper covering General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.
    • For DEPR: Objective Economics paper + Descriptive English.
    • For DSIM: Objective Statistics paper.
    • Candidates are shortlisted based on minimum marks and aggregate scores for Phase-II.
  2. Phase-II Online/Written Examination (Descriptive and Objective):
    • For General: Three papers – Economic & Social Issues, General Finance & Management (50% objective + 50% descriptive), and English Writing Skills (descriptive).
    • For DEPR: Two descriptive Economics papers.
    • For DSIM: Descriptive Statistics + Descriptive English.
    • Shortlisting for Interview is based on aggregate Phase-II marks.
  3. Interview/Personality Assessment:

What is the RBI Grade B exam pattern?

 

The RBI Grade B exam pattern consists of three phases. Phase 1 exam includes Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English. It has 200 questions for 200 marks, lasts 120 minutes, and has sectional timing. A penalty of 1/4th mark is applied for each wrong answer.

Phase 2 is the mains exam with three papers, where Paper I and Paper III have both objective and descriptive questions, while Paper II is fully descriptive. Marks obtained in Phase 2 are considered for the final merit list.

Phase 3 is the interview, which carries 75 marks. The final selection is based on the marks obtained in Phase 2 and the interview.

What is the salary structure of a RBI Grade B officer?

 

As per the last year notification the RBI Grade B salary structure starts with a basic pay of ₹78,450 per month, with regular increments allowing officers to reach a maximum basic pay of ₹1,41,600 over 16 years. In addition to the basic pay, officers receive various allowances, including Dearness Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, Special Grade Allowance, Learning Allowance, Grade Allowance, and House Rent Allowance. The initial gross monthly emoluments (excluding HRA) are approximately ₹1,50,374. If RBI accommodation is not provided, officers are entitled to HRA at 15% of the basic pay.
