RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024

Candidates, intending to apply for RBI Grade B 2024 exam should ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as specified by RBI in their advertisement.

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Age Limit

The minimum age to apply for the RBI Grade B officer exam is 21 years. You should have completed 21 years of age as of the 1st of January 2024.

The maximum age to apply for the RBI Grade B officer exam is 30 years of age. This means you should not be 30 years of age as of the date mentioned in the official notification pdf.

RBI Grade B Category-Wise Age Relaxations

The upper age limit extension for RBI Grade B exam aspirants is as mentioned below: 

  • For SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
  • For OBC Candidates: 3 years
  • For candidates having experience as an officer in Scheduled Commercial Banks, Public Sector Insurance Companies and All India Financial Institutions (AIFI) namely Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Housing Bank (NHB) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), as also prior experience in Reserve Bank of India, the upper age limit is relaxed to the extent of the number of completed years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For such candidates, the upper age limit should not exceed 33 years including experience. For experience, the probationary period will not be reckoned.
  • Ex-employees of banking institutions whose services had to be terminated for reasons of economy or because of the bank going into liquidation and personnel retrenched from Government Offices after at least one year’s service and currently registered with Employment Exchange: 5 years
  • Candidates who had been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st January 1980 to the 31st day of December 1989: 5 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 5 years
  • ECOs/SSCOs: 5 years
  • Persons with disabilities: 10 years

RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Educational Qualification

For RBI Grade B (DR) – (General)

You will need a minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in a Bachelor’s degree OR a minimum of 55% percentage in your Post Graduation if you are a postgraduate (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants)

The minimum qualifying percentage or an equivalent grade for the Bachelor’s degree will be in aggregate for all semesters/years. 

Note:  

1. Graduation Level: Any such course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Class XII and is at least 3 years duration/ candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

2. Post-Graduation Level: Any such course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Graduation and is at least 2 years duration / recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional or technical Post-graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

RBI Grade B Application Form 2024

The RBI Grade B application form has five sections. Filling up the RBI Grade B officer application form involves the following steps-

Prerequisites for Applying Online

  • Scanned Passport size Photograph (as per given guidelines)
  • Scanned copy of Signature
  • Documents related to address proof, educational qualification, etc.

Application Fees/ Intimation Charges

  • Rs 850-/ General/OBC/EWS
  • Rs 100-/ SC/ST/PWD
  • No application fee for the RBI Staff

Step to Apply Online for the RBI Grade B Exam

  • Step 1: Visit the RBI official page.
  • Step 2: Click on the notification that says β€˜RBI Grade B Officer Application Form Released’. You will be redirected to a new page for online registration.
  • Step 3: Select β€˜Click Here for New Registration’.
  • Step 4: Fill in the requested basic details – Name, Address, Age, Contact Number Email ID etc. After you have entered all the details click on Save and Next. After the completion of the registration process, a registration number and a password will be displayed on the screen. Candidates are requested to save/note down the password and registration number for future use.
  • Step 5: Upload the photograph and signature (as per the instructions specified in the notification pdf).
  • Step 6: Enter details of his/her educational background – qualifications (High school/Graduation etc), marks/grades (as per the mark sheet), and work experience (if any).
  • Step 7: Validate all the information/details uploaded in the form. Candidates are required to preview the application form and check for any errors carefully. This is crucial because you will not be allowed to make further changes once you click on the submit button.
  • Step 8: Click on the β€˜Save’ button.
  • Step 9: Fees payment of application form. The payment has to be made online through net banking/debit card/credit card. Your application form will be considered β€˜submitted’ only after the payment of the application fee.

The candidate will receive an email or a text message as a notification alert upon successfully submitting the application form. Get a printout of the payment details and application form. Candidates can download RBI Grade B admit cards/hall tickets 10 days prior to the scheduled preliminary exam date.

RBI Grade B Exam Negative Marking

There is a negative marking in the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam. 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted for every wrong/incorrect answer. 

RBI Grade B Phase 2 Exam Pattern

The RBI Grade B Mains exam consists of three papers: Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3. Paper 1 and 3 are a combination of both objective and descriptive questions, while Paper 2 is completely descriptive in nature. The detailed format is presented below in a tabular format.

RBI Grade B Interview

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on the aggregate of marks obtained in Phase 2 (Paper 1 + Paper 2 + Paper 3). The minimum aggregate cut-off marks for being shortlisted for an interview will be decided by the Board in relation to the number of vacancies. Roll No. of the candidates shortlisted for interview will be published on the RBI website at an appropriate time and interview call letters will be sent to the registered email ID. The interview will comprise 75 marks. The candidate shall be required to undergo a Psychometric Test conducted by the Bank before appearing for the Interview. No marks will be allotted for the same and this will not form part of the final selection criteria. Candidates may opt for an interview either in Hindi or English.

Final Selection will be through a merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in the Phase 2 examination and interview and grace marks as applicable as per extant rules.

RBI Grade B 2024 admit cards for the online exam of Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be out on the official website of RBI at least 10 to 15 days before the date of the exam. Candidates will have to visit the official RBI website to download call letters for the RBI Grade B online examination. Intimation for downloading call letters will also be sent through email/SMS.

If you are a general category candidate, you have 6 attempts, whereas there is no bar on the number of attempts for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. By 6 attempts, it means you should have taken the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam 6 times. If you have already taken the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam 6 times, then you are not eligible to apply.

Q4. Is there any negative marking in RBI Grade B Exam?

Yes, there is a negative marking in Phase 1 of the RBI Grade B exam. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer in RBI Grade B Phase 1.
