SBI PO Exam Analysis

The SBI PO 2018 prelims exam is scheduled today (1st July) and on 7th & 8th July. There are 3 sections in SBI PO prelims (English, Quant and Reasoning) with total marks of 100 and 20 minutes duration for each section. Here we bring to you a detailed section-wise analysis of the exam across all slots for Day 1.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: 1st July 2018 -1st Slot

The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The Reasoning Section was quite time-consuming. Compared to SBI Clerk exam this year, the level of difficulty in the SBI PO Prelims 1st slot was tougher. Quantitative Aptitude turned out to be the comparatively easier one.

Order of Sections

Owing to the sectional time limits introduced in this year’s exam, the order of attempt of the sections was pre-decided and fixed. The order in which the sections had to be attempted were: English, Reasoning and finally Quantitative Aptitude.

English Language

A total of 30 questions were asked in this section and the overall difficulty level for this section was moderate. Cloze test type questions were asked in this slot.

  • Reading Comprehension – 5 Questions
  • Phrase Replacement – 8 Questions
  • Sentence Rearrangement – 6 Questions
  • Sentence Starters – 6 Questions
  • Connecting Sentences – 5 Questions

Reasoning

The overall difficulty level of this section was moderate. However, if we compare with the other two sections, there were few time-consuming questions. Puzzles were time-consuming. Other questions were scoring though. Following is a topic-wise breakup of the questions asked in the reasoning section.

  • Input Output – 5 Questions
  • Data Sufficiency – 5 Questions

Quantitative Aptitude

The overall difficulty level of this section was moderate. Caselet DI, Bar Graph and Tabular DI questions were included in this slot. Following is a topic-wise break-up of the questions asked.

  • Data Interpretation – 15 Questions
  • Approximation – 5 Questions
  • Number Series – 5 Questions
  • Arithmetic Problems – 5 Questions
  • Quantity Related – 5 Questions

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: 1st July 2018 – 2nd Slot

The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The Reasoning Section was quite time-consuming.

English Language

A total of 30 questions were asked in this section and the overall difficulty level for this section was moderate. Compared to the first slot, this section was slightly easier in the second slot.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Analysis: 1st July 2018 – 3rd Slot

The overall difficulty level of the exam was easy to moderate

English Language

A total of 30 questions were asked in this section and the overall difficulty level for this section was easy to moderate. Following is a topic-wise break-up of the questions asked.

  • Reading Comprehension – 5 Questions
  • Sentence Fillers – 5 Questions
  • Phrase Replacement – 6 Questions
  • Sentence Joining – 4 Questions
  • Cloze Test – 6 Questions
  • Match Sentences (New Type*) – 4 Questions

*Sentences were divided into two halves in two columns as a,b,c in column 1 and d, e, f in column 2 and were asked to match them.

Quantitative Aptitude
