SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission will release the official notification for the Combined Graduate Level Exam – 2018 (SSC CGL 2018) on 21st April 2018. Here is the exam pattern based on last year’s notification for you to kickstart your exam preparation journey. We will update if there are any changes once the official notification is out.

SSC CGL Recruitment Exam 2018: Exam Pattern

The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as follows:

Tier I   – Computer Based Examination

Quantitative Aptitude 25 50

*negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer

SSC CGL 2018-19

Tier II  – Computer Based Examination

In Tier-II, there will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II (English Language & Comprehension) of Tier-II and 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper III and Paper IV of Tier II. This will be treated as a qualifying paper only.

SSC CGL 2018-19

Tier III – Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive Paper)

In addition to above, the Commission has also inducted a Descriptive Paper of English/Hindi as Tier-III. The paper will be in pen-paper mode and candidates would be required to write essays/ applications/ letter/ precis etc. The total marks would be 100 and the total time allotted to this section is 60 minutes.

Tier IV – Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification

NOTE: The merit will be prepared on overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. However, the candidate will need to qualify all the tiers i.e Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III separately. There will be no sectional cut-off.
