Which posts are available under this recruitment drive?
Through the IBPS PO exam 2017, the recruitment will be done for the post of a Probationary Officer ( PO ). This is the highest Officer cadre entry level post in a public sector bank. After getting selected, the candidates have a 2 year probation period, where they’re given intensive training in various departments of the bank to help them gain practical knowledge. Post the probation period, the candidates go through a screening test conducted by the bank, post which they’re posted in one of the branches of the banks as ‘Assistant Managers’.

When will be the exam conducted?

The IBPS PO 2017 Preliminary exam is going to be conducted on 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th of October 2017 and IBPS PO 2017 Main exam on 26th  Nov 2017.

How many vacancies will be there?
A whopping 3562 vacancies have been announced. This is tentative as a lot of banks are yet to report their vacancies to IBPS.

Will the exam conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?
The IBPS PO exam is conducted in the online mode.

Is there any negative marking?
There is a negative marking of ¼ marks for every wrong answer (both mains and prelims).

Is the exam bilingual?
The tests except the test of English language will be available bilingually, i.e. both in English and Hindi.

What is the eligibility criteria to appear for IBPS PO ?

  • Candidate must be between 20-30 years of age.
  • Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

Is  any age relaxation provided ?
Age relaxation is provided for reserved categories as per government guidelines. As per previous notifications:-

  • SC – 5 years
  • OBC – 3 years
  • PWD – 10 years
  • Ex-serviceman – 5 years
  • Persons ordinarily domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 – 5 years
  • Persons affected by 1984 riots – 5 years

I have scored 55% in Graduation. Am I eligible to sit for the exam?
Yes. You are eligible for this exam as it has no minimum marks criterion.

I have given exams of my final year graduation but result has not yet been declared. Can I apply?

Those who are in the final year of Graduation/Semester may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation Examination.

What is the application fee?

As per previous notifications:-

  • Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
  • Rs. 600 /- for all others

What is the selection process like?

The selection process consists of three stages, as mentioned below.

  • Preliminary Exam
  • Main Exam
  • Interview

What will be validity of the score issued by IBPS in this recruitment process? 
The exam scores are valid only for the same year’s recruitment process.

Will there be a common interview after the written result?
Yes. There will be common interview. The IBPS PO selection process comprises of a personal interview stage.

What is the cut-off for being recruited?
There is no fixed cutoff for IBPS PO exam. It depends on the performance of the candidates each year. The final score is calculated based on your performance in the written test and the interview.

Is there a sectional cut-off in the exam?
Yes. There are sectional cut-offs in the exam. You have to clear the cutoff for every section in order to secure a seat for the interview.
