What is the required eligibility criteria for IBPS RRB PO?

For Officer Scale-I, candidates must be above 18 and below 30 years with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline; Officer Scale-II requires candidates to be above 21 and below 32 years, while Officer Scale-III requires above 21 and below 40 years, along with prescribed qualifications and relevant work experience.

To be eligible for IBPS RRB PO 2026, Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager) candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline and be above 18 years and below 30 years as on 1st September 2026. Officer Scale-II (Manager/Specialist Officers) candidates must be above 21 years and below 32 years, with the required educational qualification, minimum marks, and post-qualification experience depending on the post. Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager) candidates must be above 21 years and below 40 years, hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks, and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

To be eligible for IBPS RRB PO, candidates must meet the prescribed age, educational qualification, nationality, local language, and work experience requirements for Officer Scale-I, II, and III. The educational qualification and experience requirements must be fulfilled as on 21st September 2026, while the age is calculated as on 1st September 2026. Candidates must also produce the required documents during the recruitment process.

What is the age limit for IBPS RRB PO Officer posts?

 

The minimum age for Officer Scale-I is above 18 years, while candidates applying for Officer Scale-II and III must be above 21 years. The maximum age limit is below 30 years for Scale-I, below 32 years for Scale-II, and below 40 years for Scale-III. The age is calculated as on 01.09.2026.

Age Relaxation for Reserved Categories

 

The age relaxation for reserved categories is as per Government of India rules and the provisions specified in the IBPS RRB 2026 notification.

  • SC/ST: +5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): +3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): +10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen/Disabled Ex-Servicemen for Office Assistants: Actual period of service + 3 years, subject to the prescribed maximum age limit.
  • Ex-Servicemen Commissioned Officers, including ECOs/SSCOs, for Officer posts: +5 years
  • Widows, divorced women, and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried: Applicable only for Office Assistant posts, as per prescribed category-wise age limits.

What is the educational qualification required for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates must have the prescribed bachelor's degree or professional qualification for the respective IBPS RRB Officer post. For Officer Scale-I, graduation in any discipline is sufficient. Scale-II General Banking Officer and Scale-III require graduation with minimum 50% marks, while Specialist Officer posts require specific educational qualifications and relevant experience. What nationality is eligible for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates must be Indian citizens or eligible persons from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees settled in India before 1st January 1962, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries intending to permanently settle in India. For candidates falling under the specified non-Indian categories, a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India is required

Is work experience mandatory for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates applying for Officer Scale-I do not require work experience. However, relevant post-qualification experience is mandatory for Officer Scale-II and Scale-III posts. The experience requirements vary according to the post.

What documents are required for IBPS RRB PO verification?

 

Candidates must submit all relevant original and photocopy documents at the time of interview/document verification or joining, wherever applicable, to prove their eligibility. These documents may be verified with the concerned issuing authorities. Failure to produce valid eligibility documents can make the candidate ineligible for further recruitment.

Is Local Language Proficiency Mandatory for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates applying for Officer Scale-I must have proficiency in the local language prescribed by the respective Regional Rural Bank. The CRP RRBs XV notification provides the prescribed local languages for participating RRBs. Candidates who have studied the relevant local language in Standard VIII or above from a recognised school/board are considered to have fulfilled the language requirement. 

 

Is Computer Knowledge Required for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates applying for IBPS RRB PO should have working knowledge of computers. For Officer Scale-I, working knowledge of computers is desirable. Candidates applying for Specialist Officer posts must fulfil the specific educational requirements related to their respective fields. For example, IT Officer candidates must have a relevant degree in Electronics/Communication/Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent. 

 

Can Final-Year Students Apply for IBPS RRB PO 2026?

 

Candidates who have not completed their graduation by the prescribed cut-off date cannot apply for IBPS RRB PO 2026. The result of the qualifying examination must have been declared on or before 21st September 2026. Candidates must be able to produce their degree certificate, mark sheet, provisional certificate, or other acceptable proof during the interview/document verification process. Therefore, final-year students can apply only if their qualifying examination result is declared on or before 21st September 2026.

 

How is graduation percentage calculated for IBPS RRB PO?

 

Candidates must enter their graduation percentage up to two decimal places in the online application form. If a university awards CGPA/OGPA instead of percentage, candidates must follow the conversion method prescribed by their university/institution. The percentage is calculated by dividing the total marks obtained in all subjects across all semesters/years by the aggregate maximum marks in all subjects and multiplying the result by 100. The percentage is considered across all subjects and semesters/years, as applicable. The fraction of the percentage is ignored. For example, 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% as less than 55%. Candidates who have CGPA/OGPA must produce documentary proof of the university's conversion criteria when required.
