Major Changes in SBI PO 2025


SBI has introduced some changes in the exam pattern this year. Below are the key updates:

  • Increased Basic Pay: The starting basic pay has been increased to Rs 48,480/-.
  • Sectional Cut-off in Mains: Sectional cut-offs will now be applicable in the Mains exam.
  • Changes in Prelims Exam Structure: The number of questions in the English section has increased to 40, while the Reasoning and Quantitative sections have been reduced to 30 each.
  • Mains Exam: The objective-type questions have increased to 170, and the descriptive test remains the same.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria

SBI PO Nationality


To be eligible for the SBI PO 2025 exam, a candidate must be a citizen of India. Only Indian nationals can apply for the SBI Probationary Officer recruitment.


SBI PO Age Limit


As per the SBI PO eligibility criteria, candidates must be at least 21 years and not more than 30 years of age as on 1st April 2025. In other words, the candidate should have been born not earlier than 2nd April 1995 and not later than 1st April 2004, both dates inclusive.

To appear for the SBI PO 2025 exam, candidates must have graduated in any discipline from a recognized university. The educational qualification must be completed on or before 30th September 2025.

The number of permissible attempts for the SBI PO examination depends on the category of the candidate:

SBI PO Selection Process

SBI PO Salary 2025


As of 2025, the State Bank of India (SBI) has revised the SBI PO Salary Structure 2025. The starting basic pay is now ₹48,480/-, which includes four advance increments, under the pay scale of ₹48,480–2000/7–62,480–2340/2–67,160–2680/7–85,920, applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. In addition to the basic pay, SBI POs are entitled to a comprehensive benefits package that includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund, Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS), Leave Fare Concession (LFC), Medical Facilities, Lease Rental Facility, and various other allowances and perquisites as per prevailing rules. The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) at the initial scale of pay at the Mumbai Centre is around ₹20.43 lakhs per annum, making the SBI PO role not only prestigious but also financially rewarding.
