A Divisional Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounts for different government departments and checking all the transactions and expenses of projects. You alone will be responsible for taking major decisions since the job does not involve coordinating with any senior officials.
Initially, you will be on a probation period of two years. You will be working in a preferred city for at least 6 months, where you will be trained and taught the various responsibilities and duties of a Divisional Accountant.
You will be posted in the state govt. irrigation offices, PWD offices, public health offices, and others where you will be working as a financial advisor or chief accountant. Your main job will be to check and pass bills raised by the division you are working in.
The nature of work is a desk job with a fixed 9 to 5 schedule.

There is a good scope for promotion for those working as a Divisional Accountant. The promotion takes place in stages, based on one’s performance in the internal exams. The first level of promotion is for the post of Divisional Accountant Officer II, the grade pay of which is Rs 4600. The second level of promotion is for Divisional Accountant Officer I, the grade pay of which stands at Rs 4800.
