Candidates applying for SSC CGL must be an Indian citizen, or a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries, and candidates other than Indian citizens must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Candidates must have the essential educational qualifications for various posts including:
