SSC JHT Eligibility Criteria 2025

As per the SSC Calendar 2025, the SSC JHT Notification 2025 is expected to be released on 26th August 2025, and the online application process will be open until 18th September 2025. Candidates who want to apply for the SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) Exam 2025 must be aware of the eligibility criteria, including

  • Educational Qualifications,
  • Age Limit, and
  • Nationality Requirements

SSC JHT Nationality

Candidates applying for SSC Junior Hindi Translator must be:

  • An Indian citizen, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A Tibetan refugee (came to India before January 01, 1962), or
  • A person of Indian origin (who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries, Vietnam, etc. with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

SSC JHT Educational Qualification

The details of the SSC JHT educational qualifications for various posts are provided below. As per last year’s SSC JHT notification, candidates must have completed the required educational qualification by 25th August 2024.

For Post Codes ‘A’ to ‘C’ (Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator)

Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree from a recognized university in:
    • Hindi, with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • English, with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject, with Hindi & English as compulsory/elective subjects, OR one as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory/elective subject at the degree level.

Additional Requirement:

  • recognized Diploma/Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, OR
  • Two years of translation experience from Hindi to English and vice versa in a Central/State Government Office, including Government of India Undertakings.

For Post Code ‘D’ (Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator)

Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree from a recognized university in:
    • Hindi, with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • English, with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
    • Any other subject, with Hindi & English as compulsory/elective subjects, OR one as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory/elective subject at the degree level.

Additional Requirement:

  • recognized Diploma/Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, OR
  • Three years of translation experience from Hindi to English and vice versa in a Central/State Government Office, including Government of India Undertakings.

SSC JHT Age Limit

The SSC JHT Age Limit has been set by the Staff Selection Commission where candidates aged between 18 and 30 years as of 1st August 2024 (as per last year’s Notification). This means applicants must have been born on or after 2nd August 1994, and on or before 1st August 2006. The age limit for SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) candidates is as follows:
