Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL Posts promotion
After joining the services in government departments, candidates have two ways to receive promotions from the department. Two ways to be eligible for the promotion are as follows:
- Departmental examinations are conducted for the promotion of employees after every 3 to 5 years. Candidates who have joined the position of the inspector are generally promoted to the post of Deputy Superintendent.
- Promotions are also given to the employees based on their service tenure. However, tenure-based promotions take longer periods as compared to departmental exams.
- 1st promotion is given after the service tenure of 5 to 10 years depending on the particular department. Second and third promotions are usually given within the span of 3-5 years.

- Employees enjoy all the perks and benefits of the officer just after their promotion.
SSC CGL Transfer Policy
At the time of joining, candidates are posted in a particular circle of the department. Employees have to serve in that particular circle for a fixed period of time. Although, there are different criteria in the SSC CGL Transfer policy and posting. They are as follows:
- In case of transfer within a zone, employees have to serve in a particular office for at least 3 years. After which they can apply for the normal transfer.
- If an employee wants to transfer to a different zone, he/she needs to complete their service of 5 to 8 years in the zone of the posting.
- For women, the transfer policy is lenient and they are often given a zone of their choice. They are generally posted near their residing zone.
- Employees can also demand transfer on the grounds of their medical fitness and the location of their spouse. Employees having medical difficulties can demand transfer to their home zones.
