Haryana signs 2 MoUs for revival of Sarasvati

The state government had roped in national agencies like ISRO, the National Institute of Hydrology and the Geological Survey of India to speed up work for the revival and rejuvenation of the Sarasvati river.

Two MoUs were signed for investigation into the palaeochannel and the study of hydrological aspects relating to the Sarasvati rejuvenation and heritage development projects.

Saraswati is one of the Rigvedic river mentioned in the Rig Veda and later Vedic and Post Vedic texts.

Adi Badri, considered the origin of the Vedic era river to ensure the water flow area in Haryana was the origin point of the Sarasvati.

Since 19th century, the scholars have conjectured that the Vedic Saraswati River is the Ghaggar- Hakra River system which flows through North western India and Eastern Pakistan.

Philip Roth author died at age of 85.

In 2005 he became only the third living writer (after Bellow and Eudora Welty) to have his books enshrined in American Library.

Polish author Olga Tokarczuk wins Man Booker International prize

Polish novelist Olga Tokarczuk won the prestigious Man Booker International Prize for fiction for Flights, a novel that charts multiple journeys in time, space and human anatomy.

In 2008 she won the Nike Award, Poland’s highest literary accolade for Flight.

Eminent Gujarati writer and humourist Vinod Bhatt died at 80.

He was best known for his humour columns in Gujarati newspapers.

Bhatt was born in 1938 at Nandol village in Dehgam taluka of Gandhinagar district.

He worked as a tax consultant and served as the president of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad from 1996 to 1997.

His newspaper column ‘Mag Nu Naam Mari’ was very popular.

India ranks 145th among 195 countries in terms of quality and accessibility of healthcare.

The option contract will provide physical market participants an additional instrument to hedge their risk.
