Cabinet approves 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric project in J&K's Kishtwar

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the construction of 540 MW Kwar Hydro Electric project located on river Chenab in Kishtwar district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.The project will be implemented by Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited which is a joint venture company between NHPC & JKSPDC.

The project has been approved with an investment of over 4 thousand 526 crore rupees.

Jamtara in Jharkhand becomes country's first district to have a library in every village

Jamtara in Jharkhand has become the only district in the country where all gram panchayats have community libraries.

This district with a population of about eight lakh has a total of 118 gram panchayats under six blocks and each panchayat has a well-equipped library which is open for students from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eminent structural biologist M. Vijayan, DAE Homi Bhabha Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), passed away in Bengaluru.

Agra to get country’s first vacuum-based sewer system

The city of Taj Mahal, Agra, has become the first city in the country to have vacuum-based sewers. These vacuums will be used in public places.If the trial in Agra becomes successful, then the vacuum sewer will be used in Kochi Municipal Corporation as well.

The work of sewer connection is estimated at Rs 100 crore.

Kerala signs MoU with Netherlands for Cosmos Malabaricus project

Kerala and Netherlands have signed an MoU for the Cosmos Malabaricus project to help illustrate the history of the southern state in the 18th century, said the state government. The agreement also aims to establish paint academics at Kollam and Malappuram.

The MoU has been signed in the presence of Pinarayi Vijayan, chief minister, Kerala & Marten van den Berg, Netherland.
