Satya Pal Malik, former Jammu and Kashmir Governor, passes away

Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik passed away on August 5, 2025. He has also served as the Governor of Meghalaya, Goa, Odisha and Bihar. He was 79-years old.

Malik entered politics in the mid-1960s inspired by the socialist ideology of Ram Manohar Lohia.

In Athletics, India’s Annu Rani has won gold medal in the women’s javelin throw at the International Wiesław Maniak Memorial in Poland with a season-best effort of 62.59 meter.

The 32-year-old and Asian Games champion started strong, throwing 60.96m in her first attempt, which was already enough to secure the win.
