Virat Kohli only cricketer in Forbes’ 2020 list of world's highest paid athletes

India Skipper Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to feature in Forbes' list of the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world for the year 2020. Kohli is ranked at number 66 with estimated earnings of $26 million. Roger Federer is the top paid athlete.

Long-distance runner Kiranjeet Kaur banned for 4 years by World Athletics’ anti-doping body

Long – Distance runner Kiranjeet Kaur, who won the tata Steel Kolkata 25K among the Indians last year, has been handed a four-year ban by World Athletics’ anti-doping body (WADA) for returning positive for a banned substance in a test conducted in Doha.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs headed by Arjun Munda has announced inclusion of 23 additional Minor Forest Produce (MFP) items in Minimum Support Price (MSP) list. They include Van Tulsi seeds, Van Jeera, Mushroom, Black Rice and Johar Rice among others.

IMF approves 732 million emergency assistance to Bangladesh for COVID-19

IMF Executive Board approved an emergency financial assistance worth dollar 732 million for Bangladesh to address the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and to meet its urgent Balance of payment and fiscal needs caused due to reduced exports and remittances.

Gujarat is the first state to complete the migration of workers to their home state through Shramik Special trains

Gujarat has run 1017 special trains, which ferried 15.18 lakh workers home. It is the first state to complete the sending back of migrant workers safely to their destinations. At least 77% of the total 15.18 Lakh total migrant workers sent to UP and Bihar.

UP becomes first state to prepare one lakh beds for COVID-19 patients

Uttar Pradesh became first state to prepare 1 Lakh beds for COVID-19 patients, with each of 75 districts having dedicated beds for patients in the respective facilities. The beds in the hospitals are classified into 3 categories-Level 1, level 2 & level 3.

Arun Singhal appointed as CEO FSSAI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Arun Singhal as chief executive officer of the apex food regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. He will succeed GSG Ayyangar who was briefly appointed as the CEO.

Lieutenant General Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, will take over as the 15th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN). During his 37 years of distinguished service, Pande has taken an active part in Operation Vijay and Operation Parakram.

Bobby Joe Morrow has died due to natural causes aged 84. Nicknamed "white lightning Texas ", Morrow had joined his fellow countryman Jesse Owens, the only man then to have won the gold for 100m, 200m and 4X100m in a single edition of the Olympic Games.
