Ajay Kumar Mishra has been appointed as the new Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh, a proposal to this effect was cleared by the UP Cabinet.

A bench of Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Subhash Vidyarthi passed the order after taking suo motu cognisance of the issue.

The Indian government officially declared 11 May as National Technology Day to commemorate the first of the five nuclear tests that were carried out on 11 May 1998.

Santoor maestro Shiv Kumar Sharma dies at 84

Santoor virtuoso Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, who took the stringed instrument to the global stage and successfully straddled the worlds of classical and film music, died in Mumbai following a heart attack. He was 84.

A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Sharma was born in Jammu in 1938 and is believed to be the first musician to have played Indian classical music on the santoor.
