MOIL achieved manganese ore production of 1.45 lakh tonnes in July 2025, marking an impressive growth of 12% over the corresponding period last year (CPLY), despite adverse weather conditions.
Despite heavy rainfall, MOIL demonstrated strong operational momentum during April–July 2025, with production at 6.47 lakh tonnes (7.8% growth y-o-y),
sales of 5.01 lakh tonnes (10.7% higher than CPLY), and exploratory drilling of 43,215 meters (up 11.4% over CPLY).

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the “Industry 4.0 Workshop for CPSEs” organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance in Guwahati.
Under this MoU, BSNL and NRL will collaborate to deploy India’s first 5G CNPN (Captive Non-Public Network) within the refinery sector,
ushering in a new era of secure, ultra-reliable, and real-time industrial connectivity. This initiative is a pioneering step in leveraging indigenous 5G infrastructure for mission-critical operations.
This partnership between BSNL and NRL is expected to set the stage for replicable models across other industrial sectors.
India received the last of its 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain, marking an important milestone in strengthening its defence capabilities, the Indian Embassy in Spain said.
The C-295, a transport aircraft of 5-10 tonne capacity with contemporary technology, is set to replace the ageing Avro aircraft of the IAF.
The aircraft, with a flight endurance of up to 11 hours, is a versatile and efficient tactical transport aircraft.
India signed a contract with Airbus Defence & Space, Spain, for acquisition of 56 C-295MW transport aircraft for IAF in Sep 2021.
Under the C-295 programme, a total of 56 aircraft are to be delivered, of which 16 were to be delivered directly by Airbus from Spain, and the remaining 40 will be manufactured in India.
Spain fulfilled that commitment by handing over the last of the 16 aircraft.
Dr Mayank Sharma assumed the office of Financial Advisor (Defence Services) on August 01, 2025. He is a 1989-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service, who has served in various capacities in the Government, including the Controller General of Defence Accounts, in a career spanning over three decades.
The officer has also worked as Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. He represented India as the Alternate Permanent Representative at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, and UN Commission on International Trade Law.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in consultation with the Ministry of Ayush, has released a definitive list of Ayurvedic food preparations under the category of “Ayurveda Aahara.” This significant step brings India’s time-honoured food wisdom into the mainstream,
following the introduction of the Food Safety and Standards (Ayurveda Aahara) Regulations in 2022. These regulations recognise foods based on recipes, ingredients, and processes from authoritative Ayurvedic texts, and the new list brings unprecedented clarity and confidence to consumers and businesses alike.
The list, issued under Note (1) of Schedule B of the regulations, draws directly from classical Ayurvedic texts listed in Schedule A, ensuring the authenticity and traditional basis of these food formulations. This initiative aims to assist Food Business Operators (FBOs) by providing a clear and credible reference for the manufacture of Ayurveda Aahara products.
Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, along with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs; and Power, Shri Manohar Lal, presided over the ceremonial launch of the ‘Matri Van’ initiative - a green legacy symbolizing ecological preservation and community participation - under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Programme of Government of India.
The ‘Matri Van’ initiative - a theme based urban forest dedicated to nurturing generations through mother-nature-inspired green efforts - would be developed in an area of 750 acres in the Aravalli Hill area, along the Gurugram-Faridabad Road.
It is envisioned as a unique ecological and cultural space that will contribute to biodiversity, public well-being, and urban sustainability. This vision would be achieved through a multi-stakeholder collaboration involving CSR partners, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), NGOs, multinational corporations (MNCs), school children and government organizations.
The main components of the ‘Matri Van’ would include removal of existing bushes like Kabuli Kikar (Prosopis juliflora) and plantation of Dhak/Amaltash Trees along Gurugram-Faridabad Road, while creating theme-based Plantation Groves to restore local ecology in the Aravallis.
The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Delhi, Ropar, and Jammu in collaboration with Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR) successfully organized the DGR Job Fair 2025 on 2nd August 2025 at NIELIT Delhi – Janakpuri Centre.
The job fair was held for facilitating placement opportunities for DGR candidates trained at NIELIT Delhi, Jammu and Ropar. 14 companies shortlisted candidates against 250+ job openings in their respective companies. More than 190 candidates had registered for the Job Fair.

In a historic step towards the revival of Assam’s river-based trade and sustainable logistics, National Waterway-57 (River Kopili) was operationalised with the first-ever cargo trial run from the Govardhan Bridge in Chandrapur, Kamrup to Hatsingimari in South Samara.
The movement marks the resumption of intra-state waterborne freight transport in Assam after more than a decade. The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal underlined this development as a ‘watershed moment’ for Inland Waterways Transport in Assam and the Northeast.
The cargo vessel MV VV Giri, equipped with self-loading capacity, carried 300 metric tonnes of cement from M/s Star Cement along the 300-kilometre route on the Kopili River (NW 57) and Brahmaputra river (NW 2), with a voyage time of approximately 12 to 14 hours.
This is the first cargo trial movement on the 46 kms long NW-57 since 2014, making it a turning point in the revival of intra-state cargo through Assam’s river systems. The operationalisation of this route is in line with the Maritime India Vision 2030 and PM Gati Shakti, which aim to establish sustainable, integrated, and,
efficient transport infrastructure across the country.
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has been proactively working on unlocking the navigational potential of rivers across the Northeast — including the Brahmaputra (NW-2), Barak (NW-16), Dhansiri (NW-31) and now Kopili (NW-57).
India Post Payments Bank has started nationwide rollout of Aadhaar-based face authentication facility for customer transactions that is expected to make digital banking more secure and convenient especially for the elderly and differently abled people, according to a statement.
The face authentication feature, developed under the framework of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), will enable customers to perform banking transactions using facial recognition, eliminating the need for physical biometric inputs like fingerprints or OTPs.
The feature will help banking for the elderly, differently-abled, and individuals with worn fingerprints in carrying out transactions, the statement said.

Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shibu Soren passed away at the age of 81 in New Delhi.
He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1980 from Dumka, which later turned into a stronghold of the JMM. The veteran leader suffered defeat at his bastion in 2019, when the BJP's Nalin Soren won by a margin of over 45,000 votes.
Mr Soren served as a Union Minister and a three-time Chief Minister, but could not complete any of the terms. He became Jharkhand Chief Minister for the first time in 2005, but had to resign just nine days later after he failed to clear the floor test in the Assembly. Two more terms in the top post followed, but both lasted merely a few months.
Indian athlete and former Asian champion Abdulla Aboobacker won the men’s triple jump title at the Qosanov Memorial 2025 athletics meet in Almaty, Kazakhstan, edging past his closest competitors by just one centimetre. The 29-year-old Keralite secured victory with a best jump of 16.08 metres, narrowly ahead of the Republic of Korea’s Yu Gyumin and Kim Jang-woo.
The South Korean duo recorded identical best jumps of 16.07 metres. However, Yu Gyumin was awarded second place based on countback, thanks to a superior second-best jump of 15.90m compared to Kim Jang-woo’s 15.87m. Aboobacker, who equalled his personal best of 17.19m earlier this year in Bengaluru, remains in contention to qualify for the World Athletics Championships,
in Tokyo, scheduled to take place from September 13 to 21. While the automatic qualifying mark is 17.22m, the Indian jumper is currently in line to qualify via the world rankings quota.
India's first FIFA Talent Academy for girls was launched in Hyderabad after the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Government of Telangana signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the first Telangana Sports Conclave at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
The initiative is a key component of FIFA's Talent Development Scheme (TDS), and will help provide elite training to talented footballers who have been scouted from various parts of the country, reinforcing India's commitment to inclusive and structured grassroots development.
